Due to current and forecasted weather conditions coupled with the extremely dry condition and heavy loading of vegetation in southwestern Utah, the State of Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry, Fire and State lands has closed all unincorporated private and state lands within the State of Utah located in Washington County to certain prohibited acts.
The Washington City Fire Department has requested the Mayor to sign an executive order restricting certain activities. This order can be found here (pdf)
Each year fireworks are responsible for causing personal injuries and igniting fires. The sale of fireworks in Washington is not restricted. There are several locations in Washington where legal consumer fireworks may be purchased. However there are areas in Washington where the discharge of legal consumer fireworks is strictly prohibited. Each sales location will have information on restricted discharge areas.
Washington City Fire Department has imposed discharge restrictions in two general areas of the city. These areas contain or border areas of sensitive lands, significant fire hazards or Federal Reserves. The use/discharge of any fireworks is prohibited in all areas of Washington located north and/or east of I-15, and all areas south of telegraph and east of Washington Fields Rd. (300 East).

For those residents living in the restricted areas, Washington City has established two locations for you and your family to enjoy legal consumer fireworks. The parking lot located between the baseball diamond and the soccer field at the community center and the clearly marked area in the parking lot at Pine View Park are designated as discharge areas for legal consumer fireworks. However, no aerial fireworks may be discharged within the incorporated limits of Washington City including the approved fireworks discharge areas.
New laws governing the times for discharge are in effect. Fireworks may be discharged July 1-July 7 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (midnight on July 4) and July 21-July 27 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM (midnight on July 24). Fireworks may not be discharged outside these dates and times.
Public fireworks displays are planned in the area for July 4th and July 24th. Washington City will provide a public fireworks display on July 24. The display will be held at the Washington City Community Center and will begin around 9:00 PM. We encourage all to come out and enjoy the fireworks and see our beautiful Community Center.
